It is known fact that Nigerians speak English more than their native language. Some frown at our “Pidgin English” because they feel it is not the way to communicate.

In as much as we have some Nigeria Media institutions communicating and airing in our native languages, the numbers of Nigerians who speak our local languages are quite few compare to the numbers of English speakers in the country.

Over 517 languages are spoken in Nigeria. Why do we still find it difficult to communicate, teach and write in our native languages? Why is English the only official language in Nigeria? I believe Nigeria can have up to 5 official languages.
